The Save Lives Oregon Impact Report: January 2024 provides an overview of our initiative’s collaborative work to date with partners across Oregon and Tribal communities to reduce substance use related harm. It emphasizes the importance of our collective efforts in creating communities that are both safer and healthier.

The report highlights include:

Engaging 881 initiative partners across the state and Tribal communities, reflecting our broad coalition working towards harm reduction.
Supplying more than 391,000 doses of naloxone, leading to 7,500+ opioid overdose reversals reported by initiative partners
Expanding the Harm Reduction Clearinghouse to increase access to essential supplies to more partners, including schools and special districts

When Carol first started supporting the Mid-Willamette Valley’s unhoused community, she quickly realized the importance of harm reduction supplies in building trust. “By handing out naloxone, it tells people that we’re not here to judge them. We’re just here to help,” she said. Through this trust, Carol’s team has connected dozens of people to housing, detox and treatment.
